We decided to hire a boat and go the the Isles of Capri

Our ride to the Isles of Capri fantastic…this is not the isles yet…

We arrived and hired a taxi “bring us to the best view restaurant”….

A great day as we slowly coasted home….

The climb to a quiet Mount Vesuvius last erupted in 1944

The climb took approx. 45 minutes and the views to die for…sorry to put it that way.

Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius..with a climb to the top!

Pompeii destroyed in 79AD by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius (in background) covered the city with 30 feet of ash. They say somewhere between 3,000-5,000 died within 48 hours. Some forever intombed in the ash. Notice the band, the sign of a slave.

The streets had elevated crosswalks in the event of flooded streets and interior plumbing.

…and mosaics and paintings abound…

As we leave the streets of Pompeii we head for the climb of Mount Vesuvius
